Tockwotton Home founded in 1856 and located on Providence’s East Side is Rhode Island’s oldest Assisted Living and Nursing Facility. Tockwotton is home to 66 assisted living and nursing home residents and is well respected not only in the community, but also by the families it has served over the years.
Striving to continue to maintain the home’s long standing commitment to excellence, Kevin McKay, Executive Director, became concerned during the summer of 2004 that the quality of the home’s housekeeping and laundry services were declining. He felt this decline was beginning to impact residents, staff and ultimately the homes reputation.
McKay said, “at this time the services were being contracted to a large national service provider whose constant turn over of employees was negatively affecting the quality of service. The staff turn over was also impacting on our residents because they were never quite sure of who would be providing them with service”.
Late in 2004 McKay made the decision to contract his housekeeping, laundry and maintenance services to Heritage Healthcare Services. He said, “the results were immediately apparent in the general cleanliness of the rooms, the appearance of the floors, and in the overall care and maintenance of the home. Heritage strives to provide us with consistence in service and in staffing. The onsite staff is respectful to our residents and staff and likewise they are respected in return. Our residents are comfortable in knowing the people who are servicing their home. In addition there is a constant presence of the management team with regular visits by the district manager and the owner as well.
As Tockwotton moves forward with it’s plans for their new state of the art facility it is with the expectation that Heritage will be there to provide us with the service we need.
